The NBA season is fast approaching. Coaches and players have recently completed media day duties and have promptly presented themselves to training camp. NBA players and Basketball fans everywhere are looking forward to the start of the regular season.
It has been months since fans got to truly enjoy seeing their favorite NBA stars in action (no, we are still not acknowledging this year's FIBA World Cup). Fans need a little throwback to quench their basketball thirst. They need just a little something to keep them going before preseason starts. So it's perfect timing that this Team USA video from the Beijing Olympics in 2008 should surface this afternoon.
Back in 2008, Team USA set out to dominate the competition in Beijing. At the previous Olympics, the U.S got the Bronze medal in Athens while Argentina won Gold and Italy secured the silver medal. For the nation that hosts the premier basketball league in the world, bronze is not really acceptable.
Thus, the 2008 men's basketball team was dubbed the "redeem team."
The team was comprised of all-time greats such as Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Chris Paul among others. Spoiler alert: Team USA redeemed and then some.
The boys in red, white and blue destroyed the competition. They beat defending champs Argentina in semifinals by 20 points and then went on to breeze past Spain in the finals by winning 118 - 107.
While the team certainly had one clear mission in mind, that did not mean they were not going to have fun doing it.
Case in point, this hilarious video of LeBron James impersonating the team captain of the 2008 squad, Kobe Bryant.
LeBron has truly always been a prankster. Bryant, being the elder statesmen among the up and coming stars of the league like Bosh, Wade and James.
It's important to point out that the the future Heat big three had not joined forces yet. Fans are loving it, naturally.
And to be fair, we can see why. LeBron knows how to keep his fans entertained.
