Friday evening, the Atlanta Braves clinched the MLB NL East Division Title. A 6-0 win at Sun Trust Park against the San Francisco Giants sealed the deal and officially placed the Atlanta baseball team on the proverbial divisional throne. The Braves were in full rebuilding mode just one year ago. Now, here they are, with their sights set on the World Series. There is of course, one serious issue: the Braves celebrated their NL East victory all wrong.
The Braves are three-time winners of the World Series. However, the last time Atlanta saw the Comissioner's Trophy up close in all of its glory was back in 1995. Some of the players on Atlanta's roster were still in diapers back then.
While the Braves clinched the NL East Division title just last year, one would think it's been much longer judging by their celebrations. Not that a division title is something to scoff at. It is the way the Braves celebrated. Something was just a bit off.
However, it's a new day in Atlanta. Like their brothers on the soccer field, the Braves are rocking and rolling on their way to a strong finish to their 2019 season.
If the Braves end up taking care of business and winning it all in the World Series, they are going to have to get some practice done off the field as well.
One cannot simply celebrate a title incorrectly and not get called out on the fact. What are we talking about, you ask?
Well, while the Braves (and in turn all of Atlanta) were celebrating the title-clinching game Friday night (September 20), the Braves posted some videos and pictures from their locker room festivities.
Here is the main piece of footage in question:
See the problem? The caption clearly indicates that there should be champagne showers. And yet, we have reviewed the video carefully and deduced that there is in fact, not one drop of champagne documented.
Guys, we have nothing against a beer party. We relate to the working man or woman as much as the next person. However, one does not just win an NL East title every day. This is a special occasion!
The Braves deserve all the credit for their big win. We wish them luck and hope more celebrations are in the cards for the near future.
We just hope they get their party drinks sorted out next time.
