The Vegas Golden Knights recently announced that their goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has returned from his leave of absence. His big comeback comes right before the game versus the New York Rangers this Sunday. Fans of the Canadian born hockey star were quick to welcome his return with open arms.
Back on November 26, a spokesperson for Fleury announced that he would be taking a break from the game due to an illness in the family.
Now, eight days later, he's returned with the Vegas Golden Knights posting a video to its Twitter page with the caption, "The dude is back #VegasBorn."
In the eight-second clip, you see the players practicing. The comments were lit, with many commenters expressing how much they missed him.
One user wrote, "WELCOME BACK FLOWER !!! Fanbase missed you." With another writing, "He is loved by many, not just in Vegas or Pitt... just seems to epitomize all the greatness humanity as a whole has to offer."
This weekend's match marks Fleury's first official game since his leave of absence.
Whether he's on the bench or out on the rink, some fans said they hoped to see him. One wrote, "Everyone who is going to be in Vegas to see the game on Sunday better give this man a standing ovation."
The team's page also posted a video interview with its forward, Max Pacioretty, who was asked, "What's it mean to your group seeing Marc-Andre Fleury return....?"
His response was very heartwarming, "He's obviously the backbone of this team and you know, the best leader I've ever played with....."
The team and its fans alike seem pretty happy to see Marc back.
