With so many spectacular parks to explore this year, it's hard to choose just one! Each spot has their own special twist of fun and excitement, some providing an array of activities to do while others will work your body on a hike or trail. Whether you're basking in the ambience or sweating to "det" hiking those trails, there's something out there for everyone!
Grab your bestie, your bae or go on a weekend retreat with the girls. What's stopping you from enjoying the awesome provincial parks Newfoundland has to offer? If you're wondering where to visit first, let this list be your ultimate guide to a summer full of excitement.

3. Dungeon Provincial Park
312 km (3 hr 41 min)
A popular sight for many, known as a "giant heart." This provincial park is a special spot located around Bonavista. Marvel at the work of each Atlantic wave that carved it's way through this ancient rock. Though camping is not permitted it's an excellent day trip.
4. Codroy Valley Provincial Park
881 km (9 hr 8 min)
A far away destination but worth the long haul. Whoever said Newfoundland never had any nice beaches is totally wrong. Bring your sunscreen, a towel and pack a lunch. You're gonna be working on your tan all day long.
5. Barachois Pond Provincial Park

One of the biggest Provincial Parks in Newfoundland. This beauty is ideal for a weekend getaway full of excitement. Here you can go for a dip, go canoeing and even try water skiing! If you're not a waterdog then try hiking up the Erin Mountain trail for a breathtaking view of the west coast.

10. Gooseberry Cove Provincial Park

Looking for a closer beach to enjoy? The best spot to have a picnic and fill your boots with sand. Although swimming is not recommended due to high and strong waves. But nobody said you can't enjoy soaking up the sun!
11. La Manche Provincial Park
58 km (55 min)
Loved by so many locals, La Manche's main attraction is the huge bridge that's deep in the forest. Explore one of the best hiking trails around. Stop off and jump into the pond located on the trail to cool off. If you haven't hiked this trail yet what's stopping you?
12. Sandbanks Provincial Park
901 km (9 hr 48 min)
On my bucket list for 2017 is Sandbanks Provincial Park. This long stretch of sandy goodness is a bit of a jaunt but so worth it! Bask in the sun while you sip on your favourite drink. Be sure to look out for sand dunes and other beautiful scenery nearby.
