The class of 2020 probably never saw this coming. During the April 26 airing of Stronger Together, Arkells frontman Max Kerman and guitarist Mike DeAngelis drove to one Ontario student's front yard to give her a graduation moment she won’t soon forget.

The performance took place in the front yard of Ava Harrison, a McMaster University graduate who has been collecting protective eyewear for healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the band was particularly inspired by Harrison’s story, they ended up dedicating the performance to all graduate students who aren’t able to formally celebrate their hard work right now.

Since late March, universities across Ontario have been cancelling their in-person graduation and convocation ceremonies due to the pandemic.

The song choice for this sweet serenade was pretty obvious as Kerman explained on the broadcast.

“We’ve heard that grads out there are using our song 'Years in the Making,' which is a song about putting in the work, to commemorate their achievements. We sing this song for Ava but we also sing this song for you, the class of 2020.”

How sweet is that?

A number of Canadian icons also joined the Stronger Together broadcast including Canadian “royalty” Tessa Virtue and Morgan Rielly.

Virtue and Reilly's appearances along with Arkells' were fitting additions considering their first appearance as a couple happened on Kerman's Flatten The Curve live stream.

The band showed up with flowers and gifts for Harrison, because this is graduation, after all.

And, to make the whole situation even sweeter, Kerman revealed, McMaster University also happens to be the spot where Arkells members first met.

Talk about coming full circle.

The graduation reveal video, now posted on Arkells' Instagram, had tons of Ontario grads in their feelings.

“Graduating next week with my master’s degree in counselling psychology :) This video made me cry. So beautiful. I would’ve died if that were me," one adoring fan commented.

Another added: "Thank you for this! Made me happy to be graduating and proud of my degree even during times of uncertainties."

So it might not be the graduation ceremony anyone expected to have, but it's certainly one of the most memorable.
