If you think Alberta's landscape is simple, then you are not looking hard enough. The province literally has a donut-shaped, glacier-fed waterfall and it’s actually so easy to get to. Sunwapata Falls in Alberta needs to be on your list of things to do in Alberta, especially if you want to beef up your Instagram game.

Alberta has an incredibly diverse landscape that can offer you some of the best views of mountaintops, lakes, and waterfalls.

Arguably one of the most epic spots in the province is in Jasper.

Sunwapata Falls is an absolute must-see for visitors and locals alike.

Seriously, everything about it screams donut as the crystal blue water literally breaks into two and flows in a circle before cascading down a rocky and steep drop.

Instagram is filled with pictures of this spot so chances are you have seen it before. what you might not have realized from the photos is that it’s super easy to get to.

Located along the Icefield Parkway in Banff National Park, the location has an upper and a lower waterfall. Both are fed by the Athabasca Glacier which makes the water intensely blue.

The upper falls can be accessed from the viewpoint parking lot. Just follow the signs and you should be fine.

You can also look at a trail map before you head out to make sure you stay on the right path.

When you get to the falls, you will be able to see unobstructed views of the massive 59-foot dropoff.

All the water that goes down the fall first travels in a donut shape around a naturally formed island filled with trees.

If you want to get to the lower falls, prepare for a 1.3-kilometre hike. The hike will take you down an enchanted forest filled with tall trees and just as epic of a view.

Once you get to the bottom you will see three more waterfalls over the Sunwapta River.

The views from Sunwapata Falls are iconic at any time of the year but it’s the best during early summer when snowmelt has reached a peak.

No matter the time you decide to go, just be sure to bring your camera.

Every picture of the falls looks like it comes straight from a nature documentary. It’s literally impossible to take a bad picture there.
