If there's one thing most adults probably don't love about the aquarium, it's the fact that they can't fully enjoy the fishies without the kiddies running about. Thankfully The Florida Aquarium in Tampa is thinking about their adult fans, giving them a chance to experience the aquarium like never before next month — in the dark at an adult's only overnight sleepover!
The event, being called Leap With The Fishes, will be a celebration of the 2020 Leap Year and the aquarium's 25 years in business full of sea life viewing, bringing with it its first-ever over-night slumber party.
You'll want to wear your cutest onesie (or something comfy you wouldn't be embarrassed being seen in by your Grammaw), pack your sleeping bag, and a pillow.
You'll be sleeping overnight in one of 2 places: The Coral Reef Room or The Heart of the Sea Gallery.
The Florida Aquarium also suggests bringing an empty water bottle, toiletries, flashlights, earplugs, a sleep mask, and a camera (no flash photos) to really get those sleepover vibes.
Surprisingly, twin air mattresses and camping cots are also allowed; but definitely don't bring a tent as they're not.
Aside from sleeping over under the sea, there will be plenty of fun to be had as you explore the aquarium at night.
Learn more about the habitats, get bites & booze from the bar, and even belt your heart out with some 90s songs at karaoke.
The event is completely 21+ only, with IDs being checked at the door. Your sleepover with the fishies will start at 6:30 p.m. on February 29, 2020, running until 9:30 a.m. on March 1st.
But don't be too eager to leave first thing in the a.m. — especially if you've got the morning munchies.
A complimentary small breakfast is included in your ticket price, offering guests an assortment of breakfast sandwiches, greek yogurt, muffins, coffee, and O.J.
You'll also be able to meander in the morning to enjoy all of the exhibits they have to offer.
Touch a jellyfish, hike through the Florida Wetlands Trail to see gators, otters, and free-flying birds, or watch their 4D showing of Being Dolphin at the outdoor 4-D theater.
Tickets for Leap with the Fishes are $190 for aquarium members or $200 for general public admission.
That may seem a little steep to some, but your ticket price includes food and drinks throughout the evening, karaoke, exploration of the aquarium in the dark, a complimentary breakfast, and a chance to enjoy the aquarium again at daylight.
