Iman Vellani, who stars as Marvel's newest superhero Kamala Khan in the upcoming series Ms. Marvel, is from the GTA — and Narcity spoke with her about all of her favourite spots in her hometown.

Since Vellani was raised in Markham, she primarily focused on her go-to spots by where she lives and shared everything from her favourite places to eat to the comic book store she loves to visit.

Growing up in the 905: it's both a blessing and a curse. If you grew up in Markham, you probably remember how bad Highway 7 used to be and you probably remember watching movies at First Markham Place. There were a lot of struggles growing up in Markham (like not being able to get anywhere without a car) but there were also a lot of good things that came out of it (like all the good memories).

Le Bubble Tea? Tu connais? Non ce n'est pas un nouveau jeu vidéo! Non ce n'est pas le nouveau film de chez Pixar mais bien LA nouvelle boisson rafraîchissante à la mode! Nouveau phénomène venant de Taiwan, le Bubble Tea est un savant mélange de thé vert ou noir (froid), avec des saveurs fruitées et parfois du lait. Créée dans les années 80, cette boisson est tellement populaire à Taiwan qu'elle en est quasiment devenue la boisson nationale.

Sa spécificité provient de ses grosses perles de tapioca brunes qui sont au fond du verre! Avec leur goût légèrement sucré, tu peux les aspirer avec une paille de taille XXL! Rien que le concept est vraiment cool!

Toronto is an extremely diverse city filled with people of all kinds of different races and ethnicities. We've got multicultural neighbourhoods like Greektown, Chinatown, and Koreatown, which is pretty wonderful. Apparently we even have six Chinatowns in Toronto? We're probably the most diverse city in all of the country.

There are currently over 530,000 Chinese Canadians living in the GTA, and us Chinese Canadians make up over 40% of the Asian Canadian population. Pretty crazy, right? There are also 50,000 Chinese-Vietnamese Canadians living in Toronto (holla). If you're Chinese and were born or raised here in Toronto, you've probably experienced some of these things. Everyone grows up differently and has their own different experiences, but this is what I've experienced as a Toronto-born Chinese/Vietnamese kid that some of you might be able to relate to.
