El Paso may not be as popular a place to visit as some of Texas' other cities but that should change right now. The city has plenty of gorgeous, hidden gems that are worth checking out. This spring, one of El Paso's most gorgeous state parks is just begging to be explored before Sun City gets all the sun. Get your hiking gear ready, a day of adventure awaits.
Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site lies deep in West Texas and is open to visitors year-round.
Their hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from October through April, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from May through September, depending on the day of the week.
Hueco Tanks is filled with what are considered rock hills that are perfect for climbing and exploring.
The rock hills, or huecos, are the result of rainwater pooling in natural rock basins for thousands of years.
Now, they're ours to explore!
Hueco Tanks' admission fee is $7 per person and children 12 and under get in for free.
The state park isn't just perfect for climbing, you can also go hiking, enjoy birding, study the vastness of nature, or have a late-night picnic under the stars.
If you're interested in spending the night here, the park is mainly day-use, though they do have 20 campsites ready for overnighters.
Guided tours are also offered at Hueco Tanks, and you must book them one week in advance.
