Patios are the perfect way to start or end your perfect summer day. Think about it. You can brunch on a patio with a caesar and a benny made to your liking. You can pop by mid-afternoon post beach trip and sip on some rosé. Or you can end you evening on a patio with the warm summer breeze and the city lights starting to appear.
Slap on that sunscreen, grab your sunglass, and maybe even a sun hat. You are out here now and you're in it for the long haul.

Chill Winston // 3 Alexander St
When any out of towners ask me where the best patio is in the city I always say the Chill Winston. The bar in the centre of Gastown across from our version of the Flat Iron building is the most iconic patio in the city. Enjoy a bevy then head downstairs to Guilt + Co and let the party rage on.
Pier 7 // 25 Wallace Mews Rd
Take down the week with a drink at one of the most beautiful patios in North Vancouver. Sit along the waterfront and enjoy their Happy Hour (every day between 3PM-6PM and 9PM until close).
Havana // 1212 Commercial Dr
Commercial Drive's coolest little patio. This Cuban-inspired restaurant includes a happy hour list of cocktails that will keep you coming back. Come for the interior design but stay for the (exterior) patio. The set up gives you optimal sun time to work on that tan.
Reflections // 801 W Georgia St
The Garden Terrace is the sophisticated backyard BBQ you've always wanted but your friends are too disheveled to get their shit together. Hungover? No problem! Who says that just because you had a late night that you can't rally in style at this gorgeous patio. Throw on your best patio-chic and soak up some Vitamin D.
Brix + Mortar // 1138 Homer St
It just sounds fancy. And with that outdoor chandelier you know it is. Built in an old heritage building is Brix + Mortar, a locally owned restaurant that marries modern Canadian cuisine with fine wine that'll whisk you to the different corners of the Earth's best vineyards. Mmmm!
Mahony & Sons // 601 Stamp's Landing
Happy Hour between 3-6PM (you're welcome) includes pints, highballs, and even some shots (hello!) This is the place to find me on a sunny Friday after work. Mahony & Sons has 3 locations including one at UBC that can be the perfect spot for you to go after finals... just sayin'!
Dockside // 1253 Johnston St
Hidden away in the Granville Island Hotel is this elegant and cozy spot. This patio proves that you don't need the sunshine to enjoy the outdoors (because Vancouver weather is so unpredictable after all). Come and enjoy this patio even on cooler days and melt into the cushions.
The Roof // 1032 Alberni St
Glowbal continues to class up Vancouver with strong and interesting interior design, brunch, and cocktail hour. They bring class to a patio setting and take rooftop dining to the next level. Just try one of their thick cuts of prime meat, seafood, and poultry made ready on their Josper Grill.
Local Kitchen // 2210 Cornwall Ave
Bae-watching. The Local Kitchen in Kits is the place to go post beach volleyball to catch all the cuties out of the corner of your eye. The notorious "people watching" bar is filled with babes drinking brews. Grab that one out going friend with no filter and see where the night takes you.
Cactus Club // 1790 Beach Ave
You'll likely have three things happen to you if you come to the Cactus Club English Bay. You'll likely wait for that one coveted spot on the patio overlooking the ocean. You'll probably get a bellini during Happy Hour ($5!) and you'll probably bump into Kaitlyn Bristowe if she's in town.
Tacofino // 15 W Cordova St
My favourite place to get tacos and your next favourite place to sit on a patio. Day or night, Tacofino gives the best patio feels.
The Local Kitchen // 1205 Wharf St
Frrrrannnnchise! Victoria was not ready to be outdone by Vancouver's Local and they bring to the table the best patio in the city hands down. People will form a line like they're waiting to get into a concert just to get the best seat in the house. The long tables mean big groups are easy to accommodate and that works for you. You're popular AF.
AURA // 680 Montreal St
A little gem in the Victoria harbour. AURA is an incredibly elegant and classy way to enjoy fine dining on a patio. They offer sustainable and local ingredients with a rotating seasonal menu to match. If you're feeling like celebrating or just being fancy, make AURA your next stop!
Rooftop Surf Club // 919 Douglas St
This place is so much fun! Rooftop Surf Club has beach volleyball right in the centre of the bar that you can rent per hour. They make Full Moon Party-esq drinks that are served in little buckets and they always have a DJ spinning the best hits for you and your gal pals to dance the night away under the stars!
Howe Sound Brewing // 37801 Cleveland Ave
A unique venue that combines a brewery, a hotel, and a restaurant overlooking the mountains and the lake. What could be more appealing? (Or more Squamish?) If you're from Vancouver you love going on brewery crawls anyway so why not make it the most epic crawl of your life and check out Howe Sound Brewing and kick your feet up once you arrive.
Match Eatery // 9000 Valley Dr
Come down to watch the game or just watch the view. The Match Eatery has locations all over the Lower Mainland but their Squamish patio is where it's at. Warm yourself along the fireplace or perch yourself up on a wooden bench and just enjoy being away from it all.
Cure Lounge // 2131 Lake Placid Rd
After a long day of sightseeing in Whistler, it's nice to just take a load off. Let the patio at Cure Lounge do that for you. They offer a menu with locally sourced ingredients and a wine list that will knock your socks off. Sip. Sip. Sip.
Longhorn Saloon // 4280 Mountain Square
While Whistler is known for their wintery slopes and have marketed a lot of their bars as "Après-ski" it's important to remember that summer's in Whistler are just as spectacular. Come and check out Longhorn Saloon after spending most of your day sun soaking at Alta Lake. Relax with a brew and clink glasses with your besties until one of you taps out.
Dubh Linn Gate // 1601 Main St
Live music! Traditional Irish beer and whiskey! Look! Someone is doing an Irish jig!! Okay, well no, but probably! Dubh Linn Gate is the best place to let loose and just have fun. It doesn't have to be St Patrick's Day for you to feel a little Irish and to enjoy the patio complete with a fireplace and lots of seating for your and your squad.
