Anyone who's spent time living in Halifax can tell you that there's a unique vibe about the city.  We place a huge importance on buying local, pride ourselves on being the kindest people in Canada and have an incredible nightlife scene.

However there are a couple things Halingonians consider very normal which visitors might have a difficult time understanding.  Like why did the bus driver just eject me for bringing on a bottle of water and how can this Lebanese pita wrapped in tinfoil and drenched in sauce taste so delicious when I'm six beers deep?

On the Halifax City website, the Emera Oval tentatively announced that they will be hosting their first public skate of the season next week.  On Thursday, December 15th at 7am the rink will finally be open for Haligonians to enjoy, weather permitting. For those that don’t have any gear you can borrow free skates and helmets from the folks working at the Oval.  For more information about the Oval’s free skate schedule, click here.

The Emera Oval can be found in the Halifax Common, and is one of the best places to enjoy a public skate in the HRM.  The largest outdoor, artificially-refrigerated ice surface east of Quebec City, the Oval is the size of three NHL hockey rinks, and can accommodate up to 1500 skaters at one time.  Be one of those skaters next week!
