Name something Vancouverites love more than locally made craft beer. I'll wait. Let's face it, even if beer isn't "your thing" you've been to a brewery in town because duh. It's for that reason that Vancouver is seeing a growth in microbreweries all across the city but the Mecca of Vancouver's craft beer is and always will be in East Vancouver.

Home to Strange Fellows, Main Street Brewing Company, Brassneck and more, East Vancouver has dominated the beer scene but they show no signs of slowing down. We pride ourselves on making the best craft beer in Canada and are home to over 60 breweries (not to mention the other 50+ breweries across BC). Craft beer isn't going anywhere anytime soon and which is why these two brewing companies are entering the game at exactly the right time.

Let's face it. Growing up you only knew Main Street as the place where Science World was, but as you got older you realized that the gem that is East Vancouver is more than just The Telus World of Science. (Real talk, who liked it better as just Science World? Hands up.)

There seems to always be something going on 'out east' and anyone who lives there is guilty of doing at least something on this list.

There's just something about people who grew up in East Vancouver. Maybe it has something to do with the natural aroma of weed thats always in the air. Or maybe it's the fact that they are just so damn proud of where they are from, whatever it is, I dig it.

I am a very proud East Van resident for many reasons. East Van is culturally diverse, its residents know more about Vancouver history then anyone and they celebrate that by hosting street festivals and various to showcase cultures and artists from around the world. East Van is also the neighbourhood of choice for many talented young artists, not to mention the cheaper rent makes it a pretty desirable place to live.

Congratulations! You made it. You are officially a resident of the best city in Canada! This is where dreams become reality (at least some of them?). You can officially brag about where you live as much as you want. Just don't let it go to your head too much, no one likes a big ego.

Vancouver can be pretty cut-throat, and it's certainly not for everyone but if you stick around long enough, you'll feel right at home. Just remember y'all, always stay true to who you are. A city shouldn't change you, it should inspire you.
