Toronto City Council approved the extension of COVID-19 bylaws on Wednesday, and it looks like residents won't be going maskless in public indoor spaces until at least April 2022.

An extension for Toronto's mandatory mask bylaw and the COVID-19 amendments to Chapter 354, Apartment Buildings, were recommended by Dr. Na-Koshie Lamptey, Toronto's acting medical officer of health, due to current COVID-19 trends.

The Ontario government announced today that personal support workers will continue to receive a temporary wage increase this fall.

According to a press release, Ontario is investing an additional $169 million to continue extending wage increases until October 31, 2021. The last extension was put into place on June 11 and was set to expire on August 23.

As part of the 2021 federal budget, Deputy PM and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland announced several changes to the existing Canada Recovery Benefit.

On April 19, 2021, Freeland confirmed that the benefit — which offers support to Canadians not covered by Employment Insurance — will remain available until September 25, 2021.

The Canada-US border closure will be staying in place for a little while longer because there's been an extension for another month. 

Justin Trudeau confirmed the closure on Twitter on November 20, the day before the last agreement was set to expire.

"Non-essential travel between our two countries remains restricted," he wrote.
