On January 9, the province-wide shutdown is set to lift in northern Ontario, which would allow some Ontario ski hills to reopen.

However, not all Ontario residents will be able to hit the slopes. Some ski hills, including Boogie Mountian and the Laurentian Ski Hill, will require visitors to present proof that they reside in the north.

Kevin Nichol, the president of the Ontario Snow Resorts Association (OSRA), said he doesn't know why the premier has forced Ontario ski hills to close during the new province-wide lockdown. 

But Nichol told Narcity on Tuesday that ski hills in Ontario haven't had any COVID-19 outbreaks, so the order to close came as "quite a shock."
