A man in Saskatchewan will be facing time for trying to make a profit off the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash. On Tuesday, June 23, the man in question, Andrij Olesiuk, was sentenced for pocketing all the money from a Broncos fundraiser he created. He's now set to go to jail for 14 months. 

The Humboldt Broncos tragedy occurred in April of 2018 when a truck crashed into a bus carrying the junior hockey team of the Broncos. The accident resulted in 16 deaths and 13 injuries.

Earlier this week, one of The Social hosts upset hockey-lovers across Canada when she referred to hockey players as “white boys who weren’t ... very nice” and “bullies.” After facing calls to be fired from CTV, and after being heavily criticized on social media, Jess Allen has now been called out by a Humboldt Broncos Dad, who’s asking her and CTV, “HOW DARE YOU?”

During Tuesday's The Social, which is a CTV show, Allen reacted to the firing of Don Cherry by saying she doesn't "worship at the altar of hockey" and found in her experience that those who do "all tended to be white boys who weren't, let's say, very nice," going on to call them “bullies.”

With the tragedy of the Humboldt bus crash has come a massive worldwide campaign to raise funds for the victims and their families. As of now, the official GoFundMe page sits at over 8 million dollars raised to put towards the team, though it has been discovered that there is another donation page that has been created for the team, but its intentions are shameful.

It was reported by NEWS 1130 that a Vancouver woman had spoken out claiming she had almost got scammed by a fake GoFundMe for the Humboldt Broncos. The woman said she had stopped herself from donating when she realized the page only had $1,300 donated to it on Sunday night, a big difference from the several millions the official page had already collected by then.
