So if you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, says wearing two masks only offers more protection, calling it "common sense."

Some researchers are saying one of the best possible mask combos would be a surgical mask and a tightly woven fabric mask, as the surgical one would act as a filter and the fabric one would add another level of filtration and better fit.
