Next week is looking to be an exciting one for stargazers, as one of spring's best meteor showers will begin to illuminate the night sky.
The time has come for the annual Lyrid meteor shower to bring as many as 100 meteors per hour to the sky, but you might want to make your way out of civilization in order to get the best view.

The shower begins tonight, April 16, but won't peak until the night of Wednesday, April 21, and the morning of Thursday, April 22, according to the American Meteor Society.
NASA says that in order to get the best viewing experience, you'll want to find a spot far away from city lights and lie flat on your back with your feet facing east, where it will take about 30 minutes for your eyes to adapt to the dark and allow you to see the gorgeous meteors.
Prime time to see the meteors will be just before dawn, so you might want to pack some coffee in order to stay awake for the spectacle.
