2019 was an exciting year for thrill-seekers, with tons of new rides announced to be in the works for the coming years. 2020 is shaping up to be just as exciting, with news of the construction of two brand new rides in Orlando that will be sure to get your adrenaline pumping. Buckle up, because ICON Park will soon be home to two scream-worthy new rides.
New plans have been released on the two rides set to be built on just an acre of land in Orlando’s ICON Park, which is already famous for the Orlando Eye, shopping centers, restaurants, and more.
The plans include a long-rumored drop tower, aptly named “Sky Fall,” and a volcano-themed slingshot ride.
The slingshot will be approximately 300-feet, while the drop tower would loom over it at 400-feet.
These heights eclipse the current measures of The Slingshot Orlando on I-Drive at 390 feet, and Falcon's Fury Sky Jump drop tower at Busch Gardens in Tampa at 335 feet.
The two rides are just a small part of what will be another $100 million in planned additions for Orlando’s beloved Park.
The site map alludes to the attractions being built in the southern corner of the complex, where they would be highly visible from any point. You can view the site map here.
County permits can take anywhere from two to six months to be finalized, with a tentative year’s worth of construction.
ICON Park already offers some absolute behemoths for rides, and the addition of these two could make for a thrill seeker’s paradise.
The additions would add to the lofty Park skyline which already holds the 400-foot observation wheel and the 450-foot Starflyer swing ride that offer some insane Orlando views.
ICON's 20 acres of thrilling, delicious, and weird fun seems to have something for everyone.
With more than 40 restaurants, bars, and shops, it includes the likes of the Sea Life Orlando Aquarium, Madame Tussauds Wax Figure Museum, 7D Dark Ride Adventure, and much more.
No official dates for the debut of these new rides have been released yet, but at least we know what's in the works to satisfy our adrenaline addiction — we'll be keeping our eyes out for some opening date deets!
