The Ontario government has announced that gyms will be reopening next week, along with indoor dining and other previously closed businesses, to kick off "the process of gradually easing restrictions."

Gyms will be able to open at 50% capacity as of January 31 at 12:01 a.m., so if you've been missing your daily hit, your muscles won't have to wait much longer, according to a government news release.

A new study by Reebok has determined the top 20 fittest spots in the world by basing their research on multiple main factors including obesity rates, cost of monthly gym memberships, the number of people walking and cycling to work, the percentage of green space and people that go to the gym and more.

After many months of waiting for gyms to reopen in Ontario, the announcement has finally come — indoor fitness can resume when the province enters step three on Friday, July 16, with new restrictions for facilities to follow.

All indoor sports and recreational fitness facilities will be able to operate at a maximum capacity of 50%, and personal trainers can continue to see clients indoors as long as the number of people in the space allows for physical distancing. Gyms and trainers will still be required to perform screenings and take down the personal information of every person they provide services to for the purposes of contact tracing.
