ottawan

Don't get me wrong... I love Ottawa, but with so many other places in the world, I can't guarantee that I'll stay here forever. There is quite a bit to do in Ottawa and the city is still developing, but I can't help but wonder what it would be like to live in a different city. Imagine living in Toronto, the city that is always buzzing or staying somewhere like Vancouver where the mountainous views are unreal. I do know I will 99.9% stay in Canada because I truly love this country, but the province I'll stay in forever is still up in the air.

Ottawa is a wonderful city to live in. We live super close to the beautiful Gatineau mountains, meaning every fall we have the chance to go for a stunning hike. There are so many tasty restaurants around the city and soooo many delicious dessert places to have a sweet treat at. Not to mention the fact that there are a ton of hidden gems popping up around every corner in the city. With all of these positives you may be wondering why TF would someone even move?!

There are so many things that we can do in Ottawa. And when we do them, that's all we want to do forever. Tradition here is a staple in Ottawa, especially since we only really have two seasons so we feel the need to fit everything in during the summer months.

While there is a ton to do here, a lot of it is pretty basic. Hiking in Gatineau, eating BeaverTails on the Canal, going to Saunders Farm in the fall. It's all basic, but to us it's fun AF. The Instagram game is strong here in Ottawa, especially when it comes to food. You can consider yourself a foodie all you want, but how many of these hyped up foods have you tried? They're some of our favs here in Ottawa so put this on your bucket list and try as many as you can!

In Ottawa, it can almost be overwhelming the exhaustive list of new restaurants opening that are catering to a new, creative food scene in the capital. There's the cosmopolitan Riviera on Sparks Street and the imaginative Feast + Revel in the Andaz Hotel in the ByWard Market. But again, so it goes in Ottawa, much of our food culture is also based on tradition.

There's some restaurants that Ottawans have been going to for years that, in a way, have defined a standard for what you need to eat in the city. Whether it's a shawarma restaurant or a breakfast at Zak's Diner, some restaurants in Ottawa are deeply rooted in our identity.
