Canada Is Introducing New Support For 'Artists & Cultural Workers' During The Pandemic
Canada’s COVID-19 supports are being updated to include specific help for “artists and cultural workers,” according to the prime minister.
In a series of tweets on March 2, Justin Trudeau confirmed that federal funding would be put aside to help workers in the arts get more opportunities and support “for years to come.”

The PM acknowledged that these industries have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, promising that the government will “make sure you have the support you need.”
An official statement from Canadian Heritage confirmed that Canada’s creative industries are “facing extraordinary challenges because of the COVID‑19 pandemic.”
The new Emergency Support Fund for Cultural, Heritage and Sport Organizations intends to provide specific support for these sectors, including $181.5 million in funding for live arts and music between 2021 and 2022.
This will include money to support the planning of COVID-19-safe events and to provide work opportunities.
Millions of dollars worth of funding and additional support will also be made available to the Department of Canadian Heritage to support live events and workers.
As part of his message to Canada’s artists and cultural workers, Trudeau added, “You move us and you inspire us through your work every single day.”
Since the beginning of the year, the prime minister has been reminding all Canadians that the federal COVID-19 benefits are still there to support those who need them.
