It wouldn't be a Saskatchewan winter without a massive snowstorm that tries to ruin all the fun. This year, Mother Nature has decided to be extra salty and send us a 2016 parting gift in the form of snow, snow, and more snow. I don't know what it is with her and winter but for some reason, she always has to take it out on us.

The worst part about it is that the snow is scheduled to start rolling in right before you head out the door to ring in the new year. In other words, there's going to be an 80% chance that you're going to be forced to celebrate new years in the confines of your living room or you're gonna have to wear long johns underneath your formal attire as a way to brave the cold.

We can all admit that small talk is one of our least favorite things, but for some reason, we find ourselves engaging in conversations about the weather, the riders, or mundane things about Regina in general on the regular. We're secretly annoyed when people bring it up and we're even annoyed with ourselves for constantly talking about how cold it is outside.

It's a hard habit to shake, especially when everyone else around us is doing it. But hey, we're only human and sometimes we just need to laugh over the small things. I've compiled a list of the most annoying things you're bound to hear if you're from Regina.

It's during this time of the year where we start to think that winter in Regina is just the beginning of a slow, impending death. I hate to be so surly right before Christmas but have you seen the weather outside? It's like the beginning of a snowpocalypse. Just not any kind of snowpocalypse either, it's a Saskatchewan one and I've heard they're the worst kind.

The worst part about winter is that eventually, we're going to have to go outside and face the grueling wind chill and frigid cold temperatures that come along with it. By now, we've accepted that this is the fate we deserve by choosing to live in Regina, Saskatchewan of all places.

Here in Saskatchewan, we know better than anyone what it feels like to experience frequent mood swings during the winter months. Mother Nature never seems to take it easy on us and often times we are left to bare an excruciating cold that makes us want to throw an adult temper tantrum, sleep all day, and involuntarily use all of our sick days at work because we actually are sick.
