Oh, the 90s — the time of boxy tubes, clear phones, and watching your favorite movies on VHS. It was a simpler time that reminiscing on immediately gives us that sweet sweet feeling of nostalgia. You can relive all of those 80s and 90s childhood vibes at Gen X Tavern's Bar in Tampa.
A newer edition to the Tampa bar scene, their themed 5,200 square foot space will transport you back in time, paying homage to what made the days of yesteryear so great. You'll find pops of colorful nostalgic patterns everyone seems to remember of the time and murals referencing things like Friends, The Goonies, Pacman and more.
Even the halls & bathrooms are decked out.
Their menu makes reference to the period with items like the Hellraiser, Freebird, and Truffle Shuffle Burgers; you can even get a boozy adult Capri-sun pouch or those dearly missed Dunkaroos here off the dessert menu.
One of the many reasons we loved the 80s and 90s so much was the retro games. It's a real blast from the past to play on an arcade table or the Super Nintendo hooked up to their wall of vintage TVs and VCRs — It kinda reminds us of those old school Radio Shack displays.
There was nothing quite like kicking your friend's ass at Street Fighter 2 or reaching the top of the flagpole in Super Mario. But if video games weren't all your thing, they also have pinball machines, skeeball, foosball, air hockey, and more fun ways for you to sip & slay.
Whether you come for the bites, the booze, the button mashing or all 3, you can relive the best parts of the past at Gen X Tavern. An overview of Gen X can be seen below.
If you're looking for more ways to drink & play, this Orlando Bar is known to put on Nintendo 64 Tournaments or check out this Post Apocalyptic 'Fallout' themed bar hidden inside of an Orlando comic shop — they even have an escape room "escape the vault" experience.
