A quick search around Youtube or Facebook for big cat videos will, funnily enough, yield very similar results to regular cat videos: sitting in boxes, pouncing, sleeping, the list goes on. It becomes quite evident that a cat is a cat, no matter the size…but it’s probably 10x times more cute and funny when an animal several hundred pounds that could tear you face off is acting like your house cat. The live cams at Big Cat Rescue in Tampa are adorable and show just that, and if you’re in need of a little pick-me-up, then you’ll definitely want to check it out.
Big Cat Rescue began rescuing exotic cats in 1992 and is now of the world’s largest accredited sanctuaries for abused and abandoned big cats.
Home to over 80 lions, tigers, bobcats, courageous, and other species, the animals are taken in from abusive environments, or when they are otherwise discarded or saved from being turned into fur coats.
BCR’s mission is to end the abuse at its source by completely doing away with private possession and trade of exotic cats through educating the public and legislation.
If you watch the live cams and happen to fall in love, you can go visit the cats in person on a guided tour through the sanctuary.
The sanctuary has a strict no-touching policy, so this isn’t a place where you’ll get to touch or pet any of the animals, you can go on both day and night tours to see all the kitties when they are most active.
The live cams run 24/7 and are of high quality, so you can take a peek at any time of the day or night and see what the kitties are up to. You can have more amazing encounters with more Florida at animals at this bee farm, and this rescued farm animal sanctuary.
