When it comes to food, it's no secret that the Sunshine State likes to take things up a notch. Floridian foodies are in for a real treat with uniquely unexpected food fusions at this restaurant in Tampa.
At Empamamas, located inside of Tampa's Armature Works at the Heights Public Market, you'll find this little gem nestled among other palate-pleasing paradises.
They serve up your usual bar-sized bites, but it's their fresh empanadas stuffed with some unexpected flavors that really make this place stand out. Ooey-gooey and overflowing with more filling than dough, you're definitely going to want to give them a try.
If you're Floridian, you've probably had a Cuban sandwich before — but what about a Cuban sandwich-stuffed empanada?
Well, now you have a chance to say that you have with Empamamas' own take on the Florida fan-favorite sandwich classic.
The crispy stuffed dough pocket they call the Tampa Girl is stuffed with roasted pork, honey ham, Genoa salami, pickles, melty swiss cheese, and their signature Tampa Girl special sauce — and yes, it tastes as amazing as it looks.
We think a special thank you is in order to Florida's first Cuban settlers for bringing this scrumptious sandwich to the States.
Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, it does.
Empamamas also serves up other unique empanadas, including their Cheeseburger in Paradise that's a cheese lover's dream, and the buffalo-blue cheese chicken-filled Buffalo Soldier 2.0.
Not a meat-eater? No problem.
Along with veggie tacos, fries, chips, salsa, and queso, they also have a vegetarian empanada made with quinoa, roasted cauliflower, black beans, chopped spinach, and Buffalo vegan aioli.
It's called The Flower Power, and while it's not available all the time, they often offer it as weekly special by making an Instagram post to let everyone know when it's back in rotation.*
Taco-lovers will also find a delicious home here with their selection of chicken, pork, veggie, and bang-bang chicken tacos.
The bang-bang chicken is also available in a four-tender basket with fries for all you chicken tendie babies out there.
