Sugar, spice, and everything nice - that's what we love about fair food isn't it? The sugary sweets and comfort food are everything that makes the fair experience the best, but generally, you can only enjoy that when the fair is in town. You don't have to wait for the fair to come around to get sweets at this insane shop in Florida - and it's groovy baby!
Funky Sweets is the grooviest little place in all of St Pete. Tucked away in a strip mall downtown, this insane desert and coffee shop has all of your favorite carnival treats, all the toppings you could possibly imagine, and you can enjoy them year round!
Funky serves a variety of fried fair goodies that has us sweets foodie's drooling - such as funnel cakes topped with all the fixin's like brownies, ice cream, sprinkles, and syrups, as well as deep-fried Oreos (If you haven't had one, you MUST). They even serve ice creams and coffee if you're not looking to go all out with the fried foods.

Around the holiday seasons, they offer seasonal treats, such as deep fried pumpkin pie with a vanilla scoop.
The entire place is super retro and cute too, linking back to the 70s - where the hair was as big as their funnel cakes. They even have board games, card games, and 2 full-size Jenga setups outside for you to play the day away while listening to 70s tunes. It's seriously groovy.

If you're ready for all the sugar rush without the fair, Funky Sweets is located at 11024 4th St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33716. The shop is open 3 pm - 10 pm Tuesday through Thursday and on Sundays. Fridays and Saturdays they stay open until midnight for all of your late night munchies. They are not open on Mondays.
