It's definitely not been an easy New Year for Teen Mom OG star Ryan Edwards. On January 23rd, Ryan was arrested for theft as well as past heroin possession charges. He was arrested because he did not pay his bar tab, which was only $36. If you have watched the show, you will know that Ryan has been dealing with drug abuse for a while. And now, Ryan Edwards will face months in jail for his past drug use.
He will stay in jail until April for these charges. Back in 2017, Ryan was found with 14 syringes as well as a ton of heroin in his car while he was pulled over. Fans of Teen Mom OG have witnessed Ryan's drug abuse in past seasons, some so scary that the network had to put up a disclaimer saying the next scene could be triggering for some people.
Over the past few years and seasons of the show, Ryan has been in and out of rehab with the support of his wife Mackenzie Edwards as well as his parents. He was in rehab when his son, Jagger, was born in October of 2018.
Mackenzie and Ryan actually quit Teen Mom OG back in July after they claimed that MTV did not want to show Ryan as he was recovering. Even so, Mackenzie was on the latest season of the show, but Ryan was absent as he was in rehab then.
Even though Ryan and his ex and Teen Mom OG star Maci Bookout have not gotten along in the past, in the latest season of the show, Maci and her husband Taylor sat down with Ryan's parents to discuss his issues. It seems like everyone is on board to get him to the healthiest place he can be, so hopefully, he can make a fresh start when he is out of jail in April.
