The 16th century is making its way toward 2020 this May. If the opportunity to channel your inner Marie Antoinette strikes your fancy, you might want to hit up the Tennessee Renaissance Festival 2020. You can travel back hundreds of years while exploring an awe-inspiring castle and indulging in themed treats.

The Tennessee Renaissance Festival, held at the iconic Gywnn Castle, is an annual event celebrating the livelihood and culture of the Middle Ages.

The massive castle, which was featured in Taylor Swift's "Love Story" music video, is a cherished state landmark and a focus of the Renaissance fest.

As you enter into this world of Medieval mayhem at the Village of Covington Glen, you'll be met by a whirlwind of action with performances, extravagant costumes, live music from merrymakers, man-powered rides and interactive games of skill including archery, test of strength, dragon joust quintain, catapulting critters and ax, knife, or star throwing.

Over 60 talented artisans from across the nation will be showcasing middle-aged crafts and memorabilia like swords, silks, gems and jewels.

You can also get your hands on specialty themed drinks and foods like turkey legs, sausages, meat pies, pretzels, Belgium waffles and more from vendors including Gerk's Concessions and Rimedio's Bakery.

There will also be over 30 types of sweet treats including deep-fried candy bars, strawberry shortcake, chocolate-dipped cheesecake, funnel cake, cream puffs, cannolis, eclairs and so much more.

You won't have to struggle to fit this into your tight schedule because the festival will take place almost every weekend throughout the month — May 2-3, 9-10, 16-17, and 23-25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

One-day tickets start at only $22 (before April 18) and include a free tour of the magical Gwynn castle.
