For those who love getting outside, North Carolina seriously is one of the best places to live. From waterfall hikes to kayaking spots, the whole state is full of hidden natural gems. Even better, if you're looking for some of the best views in North Carolina, you're not going to be disappointed.
Just make your way to Craggy Pinnacle, which is located in Barnardsville, North Carolina. At the summit, you'll be treated to an incredible view of the surrounding mountains.
The whole trail is only 1.4 miles round trip, but you'll be amazed by what you can see in that short hike. Hikers start at the Craggy Dome parking area, go up a short set of steps and make their way onto the gorgeous gnarled forest trail.
It's a great hiking spot to visit in the spring and summer, when the foliage makes the hike up the mountain even more breathtaking than usual. You can also take some time to stop and admire the North Carolina wildflowers that are often growing there.
Just be warned: the trail up to the top of the mountain can be steep. However, this trail is still rated as easy to moderate, so even if you aren't used to hiking all the time, you probably won't be too tired by the time you make it to the top.
Since the altitude at the top of the mountain is so high at nearly 5,900 feet in elevation, it's actually much cooler than nearby Asheville. You might be hot after the hike, but you'll find that the beautiful overlook is quite comfortable.
It's also an ideal place to watch the sunset. Just make sure you have enough light to get back down to the bottom of the mountain. Since it's a short hike, that may not be a problem.
When you're ready to do some in-state exploring this summer, this short hike is the perfect activity for nature lovers.
