There's something that's so addicting about reality TV. Whether you love the juicy drama from Keeping Up With the Kardashians, or live vicariously through the beautiful houses of others on the Property Brothers, there's something out there for everyone. As of today, a new reality show is on the way called The Circle on Netflix Canada and it combines so many of your favourites.
Earlier this afternoon, Netflix dropped a trailer for a new show coming to the streaming service called The Circle. According to the description, the show is a "reality competition" where players will "be whoever and do whatever it takes to win."
The series is not entirely different from many other reality TV shows in that contestants are in a house together, but what sets The Circle apart is that they can't actually interact face to face, they can only interact via "the circle," which is essentially an online profile.
Because of the online component, contestants are given the opportunity to "catfish," or pretend to be someone they're not, whether that's by using another person's photos or making up a fake persona in order to be more likable and increase their chances of winning.
hey babe! new job is good but I miss u a lot u miss me??? https://t.co/NR1CiXqlVk— Netflix (@Netflix)1575999050.0
Before the trailer came out, Netflix sent out the above tweet which included a photo of a guy post-workout, flexing in the mirror. The tweet reads, "hey babe! new job is good but I miss u a lot u miss me???"
Initially, people thought that Netflix's Twitter had been hacked, but as it turns out, the photo is actually of Joey, one of the contestants from The Circle, and the tweet was a creative way to promote the new show.
From the trailer alone, it looks like the series is going to be full of drama and very entertaining, and to make things better, the winner takes home $100,000.
The show's first episode hits Netflix on January 1, with new episodes coming over the course of the following three weeks. You can check out the trailer for The Circle below, and if you want more reality TV, be sure to check out Singapore Social or Rhythm + Flow.
