Netflix's New Drama Series Is Like 'La La Land' With A Shocking Twist

Any jazz lovers out there? One of the latest projects viewers have to look forward to next month is The Eddy on Netflix. The streaming service released the trailer for the upcoming drama and viewers are already raving about it.
About a month ago, Netflix released a teaser to its YouTube channel about The Eddy. It revealed minimal details about the show, apart from the fact that it’s a musical drama set in contemporary Paris. The series was said to focus on “a jazz club, its owner, the house band, and the dangerous city that surrounds them.”
Now that the trailer is out, we have a much better idea of what to expect from the series. According to the synopsis, the club is owned by Elliot Udo, a New Yorker and former famous musician who relocated to the beautiful city of Paris.
As time goes on, Elliot realizes just how difficult it is to balance his family, keeping the club open, dealing with the house band, and his dark past that just may come back to haunt him. When he realizes that his partner has been involved in some shady business, Elliott’s life begins to spin dangerously out of control.

The Eddy stars Leïla Bekhti (All That Glitters), Yannick Bouanga (The Roommates Party), Vincent Heneine (The Odyssey), Andre Holland (Moonlight), Randy Kerber (Date with an Angel), Joanna Kulig (Cold War), and Liah O’Prey (Young Ones), among others.
Collider reports that the series was directed by Damien Chazelle, who also directed the hit film La La Land. The two have a ton of similarities given that they’re both stories about jazz music, although The Eddy seems to have more mature themes and violence.

“Honestly I’m excited for the music. Loved the songs in La la land,” commented another viewer.
