Good news for all you true crime addicts out there — a new docu-series has been added to the ever-growing Netflix family. If you're interested in conspiracy theories on how some of the world's most powerful leaders are impacted by organized religion, this is definitely the show for you. The Family on Netflix Canada is your next true-crime TV addiction.
If you don't know too much about it, The Family is an investigation into one of Washington D.C.'s super-secret Christian Conservative organizations called The Fellowship Foundation, or more exclusively, The Family.

The series is based on a book by Jeff Sharlet, who says that "the real message of Christ is not so much love, as strength." As it turns out though, the strength that The Family has gives them power in countries all over the world, and they're definitely not using it for good.
Sharlet began looking into The Family when he was in his 20s and found himself living in their D.C. home. The house was similar to a lot of college fraternities, but there was no swearing, drinking, or drug use permitted here.
Although things in the house sound pretty tame, they were anything but. Word of affairs and presidential candidates mysteriously disappearing travel quickly in The Family, and that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to scandal in this new show.

The show hit Netflix on August 9, and users are already making their way through the five-episode series in a matter of hours. Some viewers have even gone so far as calling The Family "the prologue to The Handmaid's Tale", which is how you know it's seriously f*cked up.
