You Can Actually Visit All Of The Filming Spots For Season 3 Of “The Handmaid’s Tale” In And Around Toronto

If you're the type of person who likes to stay up to date with trending TV shows, you've probably heard of a series called The Handmaid's Tale. The show has just begun its third season and tells the terrifying story of the dystopian world of Gilead. The Handmaid's Tale season 3 was filmed in Toronto and you can visit the locations.

The series is based on a book of the same name by Margaret Atwood and follows June, a woman who, along with many others, was kidnapped, raped, and impregnated by ruling class men, who then steal their babies and traffic them to other couples.

Although the series is supposed to take place in Massachusetts, it's actually filmed right here in Canada — the Toronto area, to be specific. Filming for season three may have wrapped up now, but you can still head to the locations and check them out for yourself when you're in the city.

Located right in the 6ix is The Church of St. Aidan, which is used as the Red Centre in the series, where the handmaids are trained so that they can properly fulfill their duties. Previous Toronto filming locations have also included the Fairmont Royal York Hotel and Coronation Park in Oakville.

In Hamilton, Ontario you'll be able to find the home of Commander Waterford and his wife Serena, located right on Aberdeen Ave. The home is locally known as the Grand Durand and is a pretty popular tourist destination.

Other scenes from the show have been shot in Cambridge, the Galt neighbourhood, Mill Race Park, and the shops on Main Street. The area used as the radioactive waste colonies, where disobedient handmaids are sent is located in Uxbridge, which is roughly 50 miles out of Toronto.

Unlike some other shows, it's quite hard to miss the filming of The Handmaid's Tale, especially because the cast usually travels in large groups and are often spotted wearing their infamous red capes.

If you've ever seen the show, it's definitely easy to forget that it's even filmed in Canada because they do such a good job with the set design. You can watch the trailer for season three of the series below.
