This Incredible Canyon Trail Will Lead You To One Of The Tallest Peaks In Texas

We love getting to the highest points of the earth. Feeling like you're on top of the world is a feeling that never gets old and the more we accomplish our exploring goals, the higher we want to go. Sometimes though, we need to take baby steps before we take on the tallest mountains in the world. If you're not quite ready to take on Guapelupe Peak, you can start a little lower at the third tallest peak in Texas, Emory Peak.

The elevation is about 2,401 feet and the view will absolutely blow your mind. This is the highest peak in Big Bend National Park and takes about six to seven hours to hike it round trip. Most of the time the trail is pretty empty so there is a chance for you to enjoy the entire thing in solitude. The trail is about 3.5 miles long and is totally worth the climb. Most people are thrown off by the little scramble towards the end of the trail which does add to the difficulty but other than that it's a pretty peaceful and managable hike.

While most of the terrain is really rocky, you might run into some blooming wildflowers depending on the time of year. The trail is located inside Big Bend so you'll still have to pay their $15 to $30 daily entrance fee to get in.

Emory peak is one of the many things you can do at the incredible Big Bend National Park. While there, you can also check out the Window Trail and Cattail Falls.

When hiking, make sure to dress comfortably and take plenty of water with you. You can check out the Big Bend Facebook page before heading out to make sure the trail you are off to see is open for exploring.

For more information on the trail, you can check out their All Trails page here.
