Netflix's Newest Comedy Is A Mix Between 'Date Night' & 'Murder Mystery'
Add some more laughter to your life! Although it was initially set to release in theatres this month, the new comedy The Lovebirds has officially been added to Netflix’s content lineup for May. The film not only has a star-studded cast, but also a hilarious plot that is sure to give you the comic relief that you’ve been craving.
If you haven’t heard of the new movie, The Lovebirds is about Jibran and Leilani, a couple who suddenly finds themselves accosted in their car by a man who claims to be a cop chasing down a dangerous perp. As it turns out, the guy isn’t actually a cop, which is quickly revealed when he continuously runs over the person he was chasing.
Now that they’ve been framed for murder, Jibran and Leilani are on the run from the cops, despite being (almost) totally innocent.
The Lovebirds stars Kumail Nanjiani (The Eternals), Issa Rae (Insecure), Kyle Bornheimer (She’s Out of My League), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), and Paul Sparks (The Greatest Showman), among others.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the film was initially set to release on April 3 through Paramount Pictures, but due to the ongoing theatre closers, the premiere was postponed.

“This is actually the first time in a long time that I've laughed watching a trailer,” one person wrote.
“A rom-com crime action with Issa Rae? I’m in,” another viewer commented.
