"The Mandalorian" On Disney+ Is Getting Lots Of Love, But Not As Much As "Stranger Things"

For as long as most people can remember, Netflix has dominated the streaming service industry. When other platforms began to launch though, it became a pretty universal understanding that the world was on the verge of a streaming service war. In order to compete with one another, a lot of these apps have been launching their own original shows and movies, and some of them are much better than others. However, The Mandalorian on Disney+ is the services' most popular original series as of yet. 

If you're not familiar with The Mandalorian, the series is a continuation of the Star Wars franchise. It takes place after the fall of the Empire, but before the emergence of the First Order. According to its synopsis, "the series depicts a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."

Unlike other streaming services that release entire seasons of shows at once, Disney+ has made the decision to release a new episode of its original shows every week, meaning viewers have to hang onto their subscription if they want to see a series play out. 

It's only been a week since the platform launched, so Disney+ users have only seen two episodes of The Mandalorian so far, but they're absolutely loving it.

According to data from Parrot Analytics, The Mandalorian received a total of 39.9 "demand expressions" last week, making it the only Disney+ original to crack the list.

Although that number is very high, it's nothing compared to the demand expressions that the Netflix original series Stranger Things has received. The series has been #1 on Parrot Analytics list of top "digital originals" for 21 weeks now, and last week it brought in 101.6 million expressions.

Coming in at #2 on the list was Titans from the D.C. Universe. The only Hulu series to make the cut was Castle Rock, and two Amazon Prime series, The Boys and Good Omens also made the top ten.

Netflix originals took up the most space on the list, with shows like Lucifer, Atypical, Bojack Horseman, and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance generating the most demand expressions.
