Famous Canadians Are Seriously Unimpressed With The Idea Of "The Princess Bride" Remake

Over the past little while, it almost feels as though you can't use the internet without hearing about a revival of a show or movie that you used to absolutely love. Although I'm not entirely mad about seeing my favourite characters brought back to life, one thing I think we can all agree on is that sometimes, remakes are completely unnecessary. The Princess Bride remake rumours don't have Seth Rogen's support.
One of the most recent movies to stir up rumours of a reboot is none other than the 1987 classic, The Princess Bride. It was first reported by Variety that some "very famous people" had been contemplating a remake of the film, although those people were never officially named.
A Twitter user who heard the news speculated that maybe Canadian actor Seth Rogen was one of the "very famous people" who are interested in pursuing a remake, but he immediately shut down the idea, saying that he would "never dare".
@PurveyorOCreepy @Variety I would never dare.— Seth Rogen (@Seth Rogen) 1568763180
Another Canadian that isn't in support of The Princess Bride remake is U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (yes, he's Canadian - he was actually born in Calgary). He sent out a strongly worded tweet yesterday evening, begging film producers not to "mess with perfection".
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Sonny, The Princess Bride is the greatest thing, in the world—except for a nice MLT, mutton, lettuc… https://t.co/CxzOZLReO3— Ted Cruz (@Ted Cruz) 1568763774
Of course, plenty of other celebs had their opinions as well, including the original film's star, Cary Elwes. In a short, but powerful tweet, Elwes said, "There’s a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one."
Of course, nothing is set in stone yet. The Princess Bride remake could remain a pipedream for those "very famous people" for the foreseeable future, which would probably be a good thing. If Seth Rogen doesn't back it, then you know it wouldn't be good.
