It's been almost a week now since the royal family was rocked following the news that a core part of their monarchy would be leaving their roles. After days of meetings, speculation, and tension, it has now been confirmed. However, it wasn't just any announcement, it came from the ruler herself. The Queen’s reaction to Prince Harry & Meghan moving to Canada is actually very sweet.
Following the emergency meeting that was called between the royal family and an apparent scheduled conference call from Markle herself, who's currently in Canada, everything has been settled.
According to People, The Queen started off her statement by showing her support for her grandson's wishes, calling the discussion she had with the entire family "constructive." “My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family."
She did, however, admit to wishing they had decided to stay with the royal reins: “Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family."
Putting all the U.K. taxpayer's worries to rest, she also confirmed that "they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives."
Now, according to the monarchy, they're entering into a "period of transition" and confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be splitting their time between Canada and the U.K., "It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK."
Of course, there are still matters that will take more talks to resolve, but Her Majesty assured the world that decisions will "be reached in the coming days",
"These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days."
An announcement on where exactly the Sussexes will be living in Canada has yet to be revealed, but the pair recently spent eight weeks on Vancouver Island over the holidays.
