The World's Top 100 University Ranking Were Just Announced And 5 Canadian Schools Made The Cut

Growing up in Canada, almost every child was told that if you got a good education and you went to post-secondary, that you would land any job you want. While the grown-ups may have been extending the truth a little, many successful Canadians got their start by going to an amazing school.

That's still no different today and now, five schools in Canada were recognized as some of the top 100 universities on Earth. It's always nice to know that you're going to a good school but knowing it's one of the best in the world is definitely better!

1. University of Toronto - Toronto, Ontario

It should come as no surprise that the University of Toronto came in #21 place on the top 100 list. The 2016-2017 ranking had previously placed U of T at #22, meaning that the school has actually improved. The graduates who come from this Canadian school are known for their strong intellect and are always the top picks in the job market. It was actually founded in 1827 under the name King's College and now has many areas of the school dedicated to the same name.

2. McMaster University - Hamilton, Ontario

This Hamilton university is known for helping educate the future doctors of Canada, plus their top-notch programs in Engineering and Business to round them off. The school placed #77 on the top 100 schools across the globe, which means that their facility is one of the best. It's no surprise though, McMaster actually focuses a large amount of time on research output like no other school in Canada.

3. McGill University - Montreal, Quebec

McGill tied for #44 on the top 100 list with the Technical University of Munich in Germany. If you live in Montreal, you know that there is some serious competition between the two universities in the city, so it's no surprise that that drive has pushed them beyond and into international recognition. Not only is McGill Montreal's oldest Univesity, but it's also one of the only three English speaking universities in the province.

4. Université de Montréal - Montreal, Quebec

Coming in #90 on the list, the University of Montreal is another fantastic school that is sure to be educating some of our next government leaders. The school is committed to leading in research and their commitment has gone a long way because they receive at least $500 million each year in research funding.

5. University Of British Columbia - Vancouver, B.C.

Last on the list but definitely, not least is the University of BC which ranked #37 of the top 100 universities across the globe. They also moved up one spot from the 2016-2017 school year and honestly we're surprised they're not higher on the list! The school was founded in 1908 and has been a leader in creating amazing learning environments for the students who go there. Plus the beauty surrounding the campus is not an eyesore for students or visitors on campus.

There you have it! If you're looking to see where to spend the next four years of school consider these your best options.
