Toronto secured a spot on the list because of their dedication to the arts and their new hotels. For example, the addition of two new hotels that are receiving lots of hype- the boutique hotel Kimpton Saint George and the luxurious St. Regis Toronto. According to Travel + Leisure the $13 million expansion of the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the 2019 Toronto Biennial of Arts were two additional factors that caused Toronto to make their list of places to travel to in 2019.

Alberta was the second Canadian spot to make Travel + Leisure’s 50 Best Places to Travel in 2019. It was featured not only because of the ski hills but the Calgary Central Library which has become an architectural icon, Edmonton’s new $375-million Royal Alberta Museum, and the new Kananaskis Nordic Spa.

This is clearly a huge feat for Canada to make this list because most of our cities go overlooked and are overshadowed by some of the more popular travel destinations in Europe, Asia, and the US!
