With the advent of the holidays, the stage is set for good feels all around. From rich hot chocolate topped with mounds of melting whipped cream and cheesy holiday movies, it’s a season to do things that make you feel good!

What could make you feel better this season than visiting the animals at the zoo and helping to support their care? Maybe if the zoos were transformed into magical holiday lights and art experiences? Thanks to the zoos in Calgary and Edmonton, this holiday wish is now true!

The Edmonton zoo will be filled with holiday lights and light installations from local artists for their Zoominescence: Festival of Light that celebrates the spirit of Winter. You can marvel at the twinkling lights while sipping hot chocolate and meeting the animals. Plus, there’s a skating rink, ice slide, and fire dancers each night!

Over in Calgary, the zoo will be filled with over two million holiday lights for their annual ZOOLIGHTS celebration. This year, check out their Snow White and the Seven Stewards of the Forest activities inside the zoo’s magical tropical oasis. Check out the Enchanted Forest, apple wishing tree and a giant gingerbread house!

Whether you’re on a mission to see all the animals or you just want to sip hot chocolate under a canopy of colourful lights, there’s something for everyone at these Albertan zoos. The tickets are affordable and all the money goes towards animal welfare and conservation. Visiting one of these Canadian zoos during the holidays makes a great date night idea or family outing. One couple even got engaged there recently!
