You Can Interact With Hundreds Of Tropical Birds At This Whimsical Tennessee Garden

Parrots' ability to mimick our words makes us wonder if there's actually a tiny human in there somewhere. It's not everyday we get the chance to hang out with the wildly intelligent birds - unless you live in Tennessee, that is. There are tons of things to do in Pigeon Forge, but it's a must that you check out these immersive gardens filled with over 100 species of unique birds that are super friendly and interactive.

Parrot Mountain and Gardens, established in 2002, is the Southeast's largest eco-tourist bird attraction.

The gardens paint a magical fairytale picture with a 200-foot Ireland-inspired stone fence, landscaped pathways lined with stone and unique parrot cottages designed with whimsical architecture. Along the pathways, you'll get up close and personal with these amazing tropical birds that fly freely.

Each cottage houses different types of unique exotic birds but the real magic lies in the "secret garden," where toucans, hornbills, magpies and plenty more roam freely in the open air. You'll be surrounded by colorful birds of all types that are just as vibrant on the inside as they are on the outside.

Outside the secret garden, you can even hand-feed seeds to the fascinating creatures. You'll feel like Cinderella as the trusting and curious birds flock to you and perch on your shoulders and arms.

Many of these birds are parrots, cockatoos, macaws and other types of "mocking" birds that will talk to you. If you fall in love with a bird, you can even take one home with you to keep as your own.

You can also watch baby birds hatch and be hand-fed at the bird nursery and it's seriously the most adorable thing ever.

The magical gardens take up a massive four acres filled with fantasy-centric green scenery, making this interactive bird experience even more awe-inspiring. You can't miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity, especially since tickets are only $20.

You will likely work up an appetite after all this adventure, so visit the on-site deli for yummy bites like hot dogs, pizza and sandwiches. Make sure to stop by the gift shop as well because all proceeds support care for the birds.
