It's the most wonderful time of the year! Now that December is officially upon us, all the beautiful holiday markets and stunning light displays have begun to open up to the public, giving Calgarians the perfect way to spend their winter days. One event in particular that has people excited is Calgary's Noel Festival, which is happening for the first time this year.
On Thursday, November 28,opened its doors at the Nutrien Centre, which is at the heart of the Stampede Grounds, for the first time ever.
It's no secret that YYC is home to plenty of other fun holiday displays, most notably the famous, but what sets Noel Festival apart is that all the twinkly lights are located inside, meaning that Calgarians won't have to brave the cold to get their 'gram-worthy photos.
Apart from nearly a million lights, the festival also includes festive food and drinks, traditional carols, live music and entertainment, and of course, a visit from the big man himself, Santa Claus.
The unforgettable festival has already been attracting plenty of Calgarians who checked it out over the weekend. The photos that have made it to Instagram so far are definitely enough to convince you to go visit yourself.
If you too want to snap a photo in front of the magical Christmas lights, you have almost the entire month of December to do so, excluding the 2, 3, 9, and 25.
Tickets can be purchased on's website. An adult pass is $19.99, but they also offer a student and senior discount of $14.99. Children under five can attend the festival for free.
