Canada’s First Halloween Fan Expo Is Coming To Calgary And It’ll Scare You Senseless
From the makers of ScreamFest, be prepared to be scared.
ScreamFest has been a Calgary staple for years. Every fall, people line up to step into a series of terrifying haunted houses to kick off the Halloween season. After a one-year hiatus from the fan-favourite haunted houses, they’re back and bigger than ever. From the makers of ScreamFest, Canada’s first-ever HEX Halloween Expo in Calgary will be taking place this October.
The inaugural Halloween and Entertainment Expo (HEX) in Calgary will be taking place from Friday, Oct. 11 to Monday, Oct. 14 at the BMO Centre on Stampede Park. The expo will include tons of chilling haunted houses, escape rooms, thrill rides, movie screenings, workshops, carnival games, a trade show, and more.
On top of all that, there will be some pretty flashy (and very Halloween-themed) celebrity appearances. Some of the celebs you can expect to see include cast members from E.T., Nightmare on Elm Street, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Spider-Man, and more.
As we mentioned, ScreamFest shut down last year when co-founder Mike Sheppard decided to rebrand the creepy experience into something a little different. According to Live Wire Calgary, Sheppard wanted to make ScreamFest into something that was still Halloween horror-themed but with an entertainment expo twist.
ScreamFest was the best experience for people who like getting spooked but wasn’t suitable for those who don't enjoy screaming their lungs out. The festival only allowed customers to enter that were older than 12 years old. Now, Sheppard decided to do something that is inclusive for everyone. ScreamFest lovers, don’t you worry, the horrifying haunted houses exist now as part of the expo.
For those interested in more wholesome activities, there is everything from pumpkin carving to Halloween makeup tutorials. This really is the whole package. For the big Halloween buffs out there, you can check out The Hex Screening Screaming Room and Film Festival where you’ll find independent Halloween and horror-themed films, cult-classics, and more.

If you want to go for the premium VIP experience, a day pass is $60 and a weekend pass is $99.
