There's nothing that says summer more than gently floating down a slow river with a cold drink in hand. Why not soak up the sun while you can? Take a drift down this incredible spot for river tubing near Calgary.

Elbow River at Bragg Creek is among Alberta's favourite spots to chill out when the days get too hot. The water here is super shallow so you're (probably) safe from sharks.

Located in and passing through Calgary to Bragg Creek Provincial Park, this gentle river has several access points. To join the section passing through the city, according to Calgary, you can either enter through Sandy Beach or Stanley Park.

It takes about three hours to float down that section of the river, making it ideal as a day trip when you're too lazy to leave town. The Bragg Creek section is also located just 40 minutes outside Calgary.

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a tube rental place nearby, so you might have to bring your own or rent one from further away and drive it up.

If you do decide to take a dip, make sure you bring a floatation device like a lifejacket. There have been accidents in the region, and it's always better to be safe than sorry.

It's also not a bad idea to have a car waiting for you at the exit point as well — you don't want to spend two hours drifting only to have to lug your tube all the way back to the parking lot where you started.

Alberta certainly has no shortage of beautiful rivers to float down. Take advantage of what remains of shorts season and explore the river.
