Next month you'll be able to enjoy a view of the sky that is out of this world. You won't want to miss the chance to visit the Museum of the Moon in Calgary that opens in January. At this surreal pop-up, you'll get to see the moon as you've never had before.

The new year is already looking incredible, as there are so many unique events happening in the city. We'll be able to feel like we're at Hogwarts at a magical wizard's beer festival and see ice castles that look straight out of Frozen

But one event you won't want to miss is the new exhibit at Contemporary Calgary. The Museum of the Moon by Luke Jerram will open on Thursday, January 23 and run until Sunday, March 15, 2020.

The art installation is a scale model that is a staggering six metres in diameter. The giant replica of the moon will hover within the 13-metre dome of the former Celestial Theatre of the Planetarium.

Gazing up, you'll be able to see a lifelike copy, as the artwork uses detailed NASA images of the lunar surface.

Chief Curator, Ryan Doherty told Narcity in an email the model has been "around the planet hovering above swimming pools to grand cathedrals, and in each instance, the impact on people has been much the same β€” moonstruck."

The otherworldly exhibit has been touring the world and has already visited Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Austria, the United States, Finland, and Taiwan.

It was also in Toronto earlier last September, and it was in Edmonton in 2018, where it hung from the Muttart Observatory.

Now we'll get our chance to see it up close and take some fantastic selfies next to it. If you wish, you'll also be able to relax under its peaceful glow.

For only $10, you can enjoy a single visit to this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Or, for $20 you can get an annual membership so you can visit more than once and see the upcoming Yoko Ono exposition.
