Now that we've all shifted the clocks back, it's clear that we're entering the season of shorter days and longer nights. Edmonton knows how to make the best out of the dark and cold winter nights. The Edmonton Zoo's holiday lights festival is happening soon and we can't wait. Zoominescence isn't your standard holiday light festival. It's way more than just a lot of string lights.

Zoominescence is a celebration of art as much as it is a celebration of light. That's because artists are invited to participate and they bring the magic with their own light installations. Set up throughout the stunning setting of the snow-dusted zoo, this is a unique holiday light event you won't want to miss.

You should definitely put Zoominescence on your list of must-dos this holiday because, in addition to your classic light tunnels, you'll see at least 10 one-of-a-kind artist installations.

Skaters can glide on the rink, light-seekers can warm themselves by the bonfire, thrillseekers can ride down the ice slide and there will be fire dancers to dazzle you. You'll want to bring your warmest parka and even a mug of hot chocolate with you to keep warm so you can take in all the magic of the zoo during the winter nights.

Edmonton is killing it with the holiday light events this winter. You can walk through a magical candle-lit botanical garden next month, too. Plus, once it's cold enough the rainbow-lit Edmonton IceWay is ready to skate on once more.

It's worth it to go on a snowy night, even, because it'll seem even more magical with downy snow falling as the lights twinkle in the dark.

You can get tickets right now and they're so cheap that you can grab some extra for your friends.
