B.C. is known for its breathtaking tourist destinations. While Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler are the obvious choices, an often overlooked area is Kelowna. Between the mountainous views, lush orchards and too make lakes to count, this city has everything going for it. 

At face value, it can seem like any other city but trust us when we say that there are some epic hidden gems. These places are popular among locals and have mostly been kept secret - until now. 

From waterfall and rope swing hikes to some of the best bars you’ll ever go to, Kelowna is bursting with adventure. If anyone asks, you didn’t hear it from us. 

Skinny Dukes Glorious Emporium 

Address: 1481 Water St., Kelowna, B.C.

Why You Need To Go: Hidden in a beautiful brick building is the best 70s house party you've ever been to, and probably the only. Between the velour couches and the original cocktails, this place is a dream.


Bowling BNA Brewing 

Address: 1250 Ellis St., Kelowna, B.C.

Why You Need To Go: This brewery is epic and is essentially an adult playground. Head upstairs and take in their six lanes of 10-pin bowling. When you’re done, play a little bocce ball or try some of the arcade games. Rumour has it, they even have old gaming consoles you can rent out. 


 

Pauls Tomb 

Address: Knox Mountain Park, Kelowna, B.C.

Why You Need To Go: This hike is gorgeous and not a lot of tourists go there which means it's nice and secluded. Drive up to the halfway point of Knox Mountain and hike along the side by the washrooms. It’s a gradual decline that will take you to a rock beach where you can cliff jump and swim. Dogs are allowed, so be sure to bring your fur baby.


 

Gourmet Donut Saturdays

Why You Need To Go: Whisk Cake Company does awesome gourmet donuts on Saturdays. From mini eggs to bacon and popcorn, they put everything on top of their delicious creations. Be sure to go there early. The more people that show up, the faster they sell out. 


 

Japanese Garden

Why You Need To Go: This Japanese garden right in the middle of downtown is pretty well hidden. Head to the bus stop, go through the brick-wall gate and you will be greeted with a massive pond, huge trees, and some of the most gorgeous flowers you’ve ever seen. 


 

CedarCreek Estate Winery

Address: 5445 Lakeshore Rd., Kelowna, B.C.

Why You Need To Go: This winery is epic but what a lot of people don't know is that they do evening yoga classes in the summers. While you’re doing downward dog you will have an amazing view of orchards, mountains, and wine. 


 

Bertram Creek Regional Park 

Address: 5680 Lakeshore Rd., Kelowna, B.C.

Why You Need To Go: City Park and Gyro beach are great but if you’re living in Kelowna, then you are sick of all the tourists. Bertram Creek Regional Park is a great beach to get away from the hustle and bustle and just relax. 


 

Krafty Kitchen Hip Hop Brunch 

Address: 281 Lawrence Ave., Kelowna, B.C.

Why You Need To Go: This epic spot has the best hip hop brunches. Their menu's delicious but combine that with the 90s music and you’ll cure your Saturday morning hangover fast.


 

Bar Norcino at The Curious Cafe

Address: 1423 Ellis St., Kelowna, B.C.

Why You Need To Go: The Curious Cafe is a quaint little restaurant in downtown Kelowna but it houses an epic secret. When you get there, go to the bartender and say “Bar Norcino.” Wait to be escorted by the bartender to the best speakeasy ever. They are open Fridays and Saturdays until late so its the perfect place to start a weekend. 


 

Salt & Brick

Why You Need To Go: Salt & Brick is a tapas-style restaurant that has some of the best food in Kelowna. This menu changes daily so you will always have something new to try. 


 

Angel Springs

Address: Angel Springs Trailhead, Kelowna B.C.

Why You Need To Go: This easy hike will lead you to a creek fully equipped with a rope swing. If you’re feeling up for it, keep walking and check out the old abandoned cars. There are tons of things to see so take your time.
