You Can Skate On A Magical Torch-Lit Ice Trail Through An Ontario Forest This Winter
Arrowhead Provincial Park's ice trail will be up and running in 2020!
Does winter get any more magical than skating through a forest alongside hundreds of tiki torches lighting the way? The Arrowhead skating trail in Ontario is hosting their magical Fire & Ice nights for 2020. It's time to get excited!
Arrowhead Provincial Park is once again proving they're the best at winter activities by bringing back the popular torch-lit skating trail that runs through the park.
The park is located in Huntsville and year after year people flock to the skating trail. It just. While a long and winding ice trail through the forest is already an amazing winter experience, Arrowhead turns it up a notch. On special nights throughout the season, the edges of the ice trail are lit with over 200 tiki torches so it makes for a magical nighttime experience.
They're called "Fire & Ice" nights at Arrowhead Provincial Park. On those days, you can skate along the 1.3 Km trail through the forest from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
In 2020, Fire & Ice nights are on some Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in January, February and March. But it's important to check before you go because the skates are weather permitting.
Here are all the Fire & Ice nights scheduled for 2020:

- Saturday, January 11
- Thursday, January 16
- Saturday, February 1
- Friday, February 14
- Thursday, February 20
- Saturday, February 29
- Saturday, March 7
- Saturday, March 14
To get into the park you have to pay a day-use fee for a vehicle permit. The regular daily vehicle permit is a minimum of $12.25 or a maximum of $21.
Once you get into the park you don't have to pay to use the skating trail. The only other added cost you could run into is skate rentals but if you bring your own you can just get right on the trail.
If you don't have your own skates you can rent them when you get there starting at 5:30 p.m. and you have to return them by 9 p.m.
There are also two bonfires that you can roast marshmallows and hot dogs on. Plus hot chocolate will be available for purchase.
Arrowhead Provincial Park recommends wearing a multi-impact helmet while on the skate trail.
