The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is less than an hour away from Toronto, in Puslinch, Ontario. The next time you don't know what to do on a Sunday afternoon, invite your friends to go on a fun-filled road trip to see some donkeys.
While at the sanctuary, there are tons of fun things to do. You'll be able to meet the animals, brush the donkeys, and watch demonstrations about the care of the animals. At the farm, you are also welcomed to bring a picnic lunch next to the pond, shop at their boutique, and go hiking on their nature trails.
The purpose of The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is to provide a permanent safe home to donkeys that are unwanted, abused, or homeless. To help support this fantastic cause, and cover the costs associated with the care of the animals, a donation of $10 per person is suggested. For contributions over $25, you can get a tax receipt.
You can visit The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada from May until October. The sanctuary is open Sundays from 10 am till 3 pm. In July and August, The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada will additionally be open on Wednesdays from 10 am till 3 pm. Because it is a working farm, they are not able to accommodate drop-in visitors outside of these hours.
